Utah Tech WeeK: Funding Sources for Startups

Philo Ventures

Do you know the three types of capital available to help your tech startup grow? Join us for a conversation on alternative funding sources to familiarize yourself with the pros, cons, repayment expectations, and equity implications tied to each capital type.

Your hosts, VentureCapital.Org, Philo Ventures, and The Shop bring together an expert panel of founders and funders who have leveraged debt, equity, and non-dilutive capital to fuel sustainable growth. Together we’ll walk through when to pursue and how to find the right capital for your business.

This panel discussion is perfect for first-time founders or anyone interested in learning how startups raise capital at different growth stages.

Immediately following the panel discussion, The Shop is helping the Utah tech community give back through a winter clothing drive where volunteers can bring extra winter clothes or help pack the collected donations for distribution to those in need. Attendees are invited to bring hats, gloves, scarves, socks, coats, and other gently used winter clothing items for donation.

Parking/Directions

The Shop is located at 350 E 400 S SLC, UT 84111 & their lobby is located on the corner of 400 S & Blair St. If you are driving, we recommend parking on 400 East or 500 South by the Public Safety Building or at the city library and walking on Blair St. to our lobby. If you are not driving, we are located just a block away from the City Library TRAX station and have onsite bike storage.

Once in the lobby, just take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

Clothing Drive

The Shop is partnering with Utah Tech Week and will be running a volunteer clothing drive to help those who are in need this winter. We are asking Utah Tech Week participants to bring items to donate or to help pack donated clothes into kits. Any warm, winter clothing is helpful - including, but not limited to: gloves, hats, scarves, and coats.

At the end of the panel, we will be assembling donations into warm-weather kits, which we will then drop off at neighboring shelters.
